During the initial consultation, you'll discuss your preferences, budget, and timeline. Our Shoreline experts will walk you through the available customization options and help you choose the ones that best align with your vision. From the exterior color to the interior finishes, every detail will be carefully considered.Once you've made your selections, Shoreline will start building your custom Defender. The vehicle will be handcrafted by skilled artisans who pay meticulous attention to detail. Every component, from the body panels to the interior trim, will be carefully assembled to ensure the highest level of quality and craftsmanship.Throughout the process, you'll receive regular updates on the progress of your custom Defender. This allows you to stay involved and make any necessary adjustments along the way.Phase 1. Design Consultation
If you’re interested in building your own luxury customer Land Rover. You can start your journey by booking a custom online, or in person design appointment with one of our specialist Land Rover Experts. We will help you design your perfect car, whether it be a beach runner or a daily driver.Phase 2. Order Confirmation
Once you are happy with your base configuration, you sign a digital contract and your build slot is confirmed with us. Now we add you into our online tracking system where you can manage all of the process of your build and track weekly progress including photos. Phase 3. Receive your Custom Samples
Once you have narrowed down the choice of your favorite colors, fabrics and options. We send you a set of Shoreline Defender custom samples for you to choose you final build color and upholstery. This is the first chance for you to experience the feel of your final customized Land Rover Build.
Phase 4. Assigning a Donor Car
We source a genuine Land Rover Defender Donor Car and start the process of disassembly, carefully managing to keep as much of the original car as is possible for refurbishment. Once we reveal the core of your custom defender build, the chassis is brought up to a modern chassis condition, strengthened and repainted ready for the build of the rest of your custom car. Phase 5. Confirm your Build Spec
By this point in the process, your car is already stripped back to the basic parts, its being prepared to go to paint, but before we order the final components; We give you the option of finally checking that you're happy with your Land Rover build. Phase 6. Drivetrain and Body
Once the chassis is ready; we fit our refurbished and upgraded differentials, new axles, upgraded brakes, rebuilt and upgraded transfer case and transmission, a fully rebuilt original engine, new wiring, new wheels and tyres. Now your frame is ready for its body; a combination of new and refurbished panels, tub, bonnet and doors, all completely returned to new condition and painted to the standard of a modern Range Rover. The interior of the body is fitted with 2 stages of soundproofing, the engine bay and firewall is fitted with sound proofing and additional heat shield material. Electrical components such as new LED Lighting are now fitted. Phase 7. Interior Refit
Now your custom interior is fitted. Extras such as air conditioning, electric windows, remote central locking, comfort lighting, speaker systems, screens, exterior cameras, seat heating and more can be included; before luxury headlining or soft top roll bars are installed.A new dashboard wrapped in luxury leather of your choice is added, new dashboard gauges and warning lights, upgraded steering wheel, interior carpeting and teak flooring is fitted, new gear shifters, a center console with your choice of options, all new seating with the option of ventilation in the front, new seat belts and billet aluminum finishing touches throughout the cabin.Phase 8. Final Fit and Testing
Finally, the upgraded exterior components are added, we only use high quality upgraded billet aluminum components for hinges, mirror arms, trims and finishes to further enhance the quality of the build. Side steps, exterior accessories, wheel carriers and soft tops and fitted before the car goes into our pre delivery testing and inspection. Each build has now had over 1000 hours of work and will now go through a 24 hour testing process, to test and check the fit and finish of every component. Once any snagging has been completed, the car goes into rolling testing.Every Shoreline car is driven for 500 miles to finally test and adjust any components before being prepared for delivery.
Phase 9. Delivery & Handover
Once your car is tested, the interior, seats and exterior are vacuum wrapped and covered, to ensure they stay in good condition for delivery. Your car is collected by our port transport partner and sent on its way to the final destination.Once the car has arrived in its destination city, it is unwrapped, detailed and prepared by a Shoreline Team member. The car is re-checked and tested for a final 50 miles and then booked in to be delivered with our white glove delivery and handover service. Including the signing of your warranty.
